Maryland Gun Works XD Sight Pusher

I'm new here so bear with me if this is redundant.

I recently purchased a MGW-317 sight pusher off of Amazon. While it is beautifully made, it does NOT work for all XD pistols as the vendor (not MGW) AMERIGLO described.

I have a 45 acp 5" tactical and the slide was simply too long. I called MGW and talked with a tech rep that said the easiest thing to do would be to order another "U" shaped pusher and weld it to the existing one.

My question for you fellas is; Would it be better if I had the two pieces tapped & died and machine screwed together, or welded?

These Springfield sights are a miserable motherfu☆☆er!
I was able to get the rear one off and a TruGlo TFO on in about 20 minutes, but not the front sight. If I wasn't a 6'1" 250 lbs brick shithouse - No way! Did I mention these factory sights are difficult?
